EPISODE TWO

Tuesday is one of my best days. There are lot of free periods. The first class for the day is Christian Religious Studies, Ada's favorite subject. The school bell rang, signifying the start of the day. Almost immediately, Mrs. Roseline Dame walked in. Yes, she's our CRS teacher. 

"Good morning, Ma!" The whole class chorused.

"Good morning, children of God. How are you all?"

"We're fine, thank you!"

"Alright! Stand up for opening prayer."

Mrs. Rose behaves like my mother. She loves prayer so much and she can't begin or end anything without praying.

"Almighty God, we thank you for the gift of life, for your mercies and love. Today is a new day and we've gathered as a family to learn more about you. We ask that you enlighten us and strengthen us. Send down your spirit upon us like a dewfall and above all, let your Holy Name be praised. In Jesus name!"

"AMENNN!" The whole class chorused.

The lessons began after the prayer. We were done with our scheme of work for the year, it was just revision classes. Mrs. Dame's revision classes are always wonderful, because it's a question and answer class. Fifty minutes later, the school bell rang signifying the end of the first lesson.

"Alright students. My time has elapsed, stand up let's end this wonderful lessons with prayer"

Mrs. Roseline prayed and left the class. The next lesson for the day is English Language. The English mistress, Mrs. Pearl Okoye, is on her maternity leave. Recall I told you that Tuesdays are filled with enough free periods. English language was one of the free periods. 

"Ada what's up?" I greeted her, as I moved to her chair.

"I'm cool, Mira!" She responded immediately.

"Please I need you to accompany me to the library, I need to pick a book from there." I pleaded with Ada, smiling.

"Miracle, I don't think I can. My head hurts!" Ada replied with a weak voice.

"Oh sorry about that. Have you taken medications?" I asked with a show of concern.

"You know I hate medicines. It makes me to throw up." 

"Do you want to die?"

"God forbid! Miracle you had better watched your mouth oh!"

"I'm sorry, Ada. Take care of yourself, I'll be back."

I ran out of the class to the school library. Exams were forthcoming and I really need to be prepared for the exams. My cousin sister recommended a nice Physics textbook for me to study. I got to the library within few minutes, I met David at the library door. David is my classmate, but I despised him because he derives pleasure in womanizing. I tried to walk past him, without his notice.

"Hey Mira baby!" David called out.

"Holy Moses! Why did this useless boy see me?" I said under my breath.

"I'm not Mira baby, young man. My name is Miracle, you know that." I said with a frowned face and tried to make my way into the library.

He dragged me back by my hand. "Come back here, beautiful damsel!"

I was startled. "Jesus Christ!!!" I exclaimed. "Are you mad? It's like you're sick in the brain. Will you get your filthy hands off me." I slapped his hands.

Without looking back, I ran back to the classroom. I ran towards my desk and started crying. Ada stood up from where she was sitted,and came towards me.

"Mira, what happened?" 

I continued sobbing quietly.

"What happened, Mira? You're not saying anything."

I raised up my head. "Ada, something happened at the library."

"What happened? Mira, say something!"

"It's David, that useless womanizer! He wanted to harass me sexually."

"Blood of Jesus! Hope he didn't do any terrible thing to you?"

"He tried to, but I resisted him."

"That boy is really biting more than what he can chew. Stop crying okay! Now wipe your tears. Let's go to the canteen, so we can have our lunch."

"Thank you, Ada! I'm not hungry now. I'll eat later, but I'll escort you to the canteen sha. "
